Go Camping

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

I’m big on camping. It’s just so nice to go out to the middle of no where and not worry about emails or FaceBook or text messages or work calls. To stop in the middle of our crazy lives and enjoy nature is one of the most amazing things I’ve come to experience. My family owns property in Wyoming and I try to make it up there at least five times a summer. While there, I love to hike and four-wheel, not to mention finding petro glyphs and arrowhead, moose, elk, mountain goats, and even bears. My favorite place to go is Lake of the Woods because while my dad fishes for hours on end I get to circle the lake and wander the trails in the surrounding areas. If you have never been camping, I’m sorry for you. It is an amazing experience.

Tackle Your Job Search

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

Getting a job can be one of the most difficult things you could tackle in today’s world. Getting a job you love, even harder. There are two possible ways to tackle your job search, as I see it, depending on your personal situation. First option: decide what you want to do. Do you want to work in retail, foods, manual labor, or something else? Then see what jobs are available in that specified area. Or, option two: apply for what is available. If you are flat broke, I’m sorry but you cannot afford (literally) to be picky. Take the first job that hires you. Then, after a while, you can add that job to your list of work experience and perhaps expand your background, bringing more knowledge than you had previously to your next job.

Work for Free to Gain Kowledge

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

If you are simply looking to move up in the world and to get some great experience, work for free! You are kidding yourself if you think you are going to get a great internship that pays extremely well. Internships are like investments, in that you invest your time in hope that it will pay off in the future. You shouldn’t expect anything immediate. Internships are learning experiences, and so think of it like school. You have to pay to go to school, and so jut be happy you don’t have to pay to do an internship. Before making it in any industry, you have to pay your dues, and that may include working for free in order to gain the necessary knowledge.
