Why Golf is Great for Networking

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Sports and networking do go together from time to time, and perhaps the sport that allows the most opportunity to network is golf. Golf is a great social game, meaning that you aren’t constantly moving, and you really aren’t competing against one another. You are simply out there to have a great time and to enjoy the weather. The biggest reason golf is so great for networking is that it allows so much time for talking. Between each hole and each shot you have plenty of time, unlike basketball where you are constantly sprinting. It really is the sport of business and networking, and if you want to make it in the business world, don’t look past golf.

Olympics Nationality

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Sports are so fun to watch, especially when you have a vested interest. My favorite type of sports to watch is the Olympics. I like it because everyone I know is an American, and so we are all cheering for the same team. It seems like it can really bring a nation together. When you are rooting for your favorite football team at a party, there is always that one person who like to cheer against your team. That doesn’t happen with the Olympics because you pretty much only have one choice of team. If you don’t cheer for your home country in the Olympics, then I am not sure I would trust you. Everyone should get behind their favorite players and cheer for them.

School fun and sports

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

I have been thinking about graduate school lately, and I really don’t have any criteria for what type of school I would like to attend. However, I do have one condition. Whatever school I end up going to, I would like them to have a good sports program. I enjoy going to games, but moreover sports can bring students together unlike any other type of event. Sports in general bring people together, but school sports help students make friends with one another. They are fun, usually free, and provide new students, like myself, with an opportunity to meet new people. A lot of people probably think this is a bad condition, but I think enjoying school is just as important as going to school.
