Spa Day Retreat

June 6th, 2009

Going to the spa is a lot of fun, but how much is too much? Some people go to the spa everyday for an early morning massage or yoga class, but that can get expensive, and it really isn’t the best use of your time. Some people also like to go a little bit every week, whereas other people just go all out and have a total spa day. I like the idea of a spa day a lot more than spreading it all out because then you can really get into the zone of being in at a spa and completely relaxing. I also think that if you go too much, it loses its appeal and it simply becomes a place you go from time to time, rather than a place you can go to get away. Going to the spa in moderation seems to be my favorite strategy.

Job Interviews Can Vary

May 27th, 2009

Depending on the type of job you apply for, interviews can vary quite a bit. Once I worked in retail. The store was small and not the most professional looking, but I loved their cheap clothes and knew they were hiring. When I went in for my interview, the manager took me into the back because the office was a tiny box in the extreme back of the storage room. We went through his list of questions and finished the interview and I thought I could go, but then he says, “Wait here, I’ll get the assistant manager and do the second interview so you don’t have to come back later.” I was so surprised… this was my first job and I have never heard of such a thing as a second interview. But I made it through and got the job.

May 27th, 2009

If you are simply looking to move up in the world and to get some great experience, work for free! You are kidding yourself if you think you are going to get a great internship that pays extremely well. Internships are like investments, in that you invest your time in hope that it will pay off in the future. You shouldn’t expect anything immediate. Internships are learning experiences, and so think of it like school. You have to pay to go to school, and so jut be happy you don’t have to pay to do an internship. Before making it in any industry, you have to pay your dues, and that may include working for free in order to gain the necessary knowledge.
